Have you ever heard a bat?
Neither had I, until about 5 a.m. this morning.
I awoke to this awful metallic chirping sound–almost mechanical–and nudged Andrew awake. ”Do you hear that?” I asked.
He came-to, turned a few lights on and headed out in the hallway, while I stayed in bed wondering what in the world could make a sound like that. For some reason, all I could think about were scorpions.
The next thing I heard was, “Oh my…” from the stairs. Andrew came back in and announced that we had a bat in the living room. It was wounded and flopping around on the floor, while Odie looked on nearby.
Andrew quickly scooped it up with a towel and put it outside (I heard him wash his hands after–bonus points for him!) and brought the computer up to do some bat research. After finding out it should be tested for rabies, he went back outside and contained it in a bucket. Andrew, my hero!
By this time, it was pushing 6 and I entertained thoughts of getting up. I was going to go the gym this morning–the first time in TWO WEEKS!–but instead I attempted sleep. My eyes popped open at 8:32, so I must have needed it.
Happy Saturday
I’m looking forward to some more painting and hopefully some furniture ordering this weekend, as well as organizing “my” office before school starts MONDAY.
I am laughing so hard…! I would have also thought scorpions which makes no sense except that I detest them. I have had a bat experience also and I was not calm like Andrew. He is a knight in shining armor ! Did the bat have rabies afterall? Odie was probably wondering if this was a flying rat?
Thanks for the needed laugh…..
