So when I picked Hadrian up from the kennel on Friday afternoon, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to Ty out the new dog wash in town, which is connected to the open-since-forever Sammy’s Car Wash. (In fact, I wrote an article about the dog wash when it opened a few months ago, but just haven’t gotten over there yet.)
Anyway…all was well until I actually tried to get him up the ramp and into the tub. He was a bit scared and approached it with much trepidation (that should be his middle name!), but I finally coaxed him up and inside the tub.
The was is operated much like a self-serve car wash; you insert money and use a box on the wall to select what comes out of the hose. Hadrian was a bit unnerved (despite being a pro in the tub at home), but sat just fine in the tub while I first rinsed then changed to suds. There is even a hose with air to dry them!
Poor guy is too big!!
Now came the hard part: getting him out. He turns around in our tub at home like a champ, but he wasn’t having any part of it in that thing, and I wasn’t about to make him back out down the ramp. For a minute there, I didn’t know how in the world I was going to get him out! I was finally able to help him turn around, but not without a lot of coaxing and shoving. I tell you what; I felt like the world’s worst dog-mom right then. And I thought it would be such a good idea and so much fun for him! In the end, he’s just too big for the tub and too scared to navigate the entrance. I think if he’d been going since puppyhood he’d be just fine.
Oh well…so much for finding a way to bathe him WITHOUT having to clean the bathroom afterward…
